Dance Gavin Dance - Artificial Selection (2018)
joshuachadwick4lreplied to Lord Kingdom's topic in Post-HardcoreI never really gave these guys a chance minus DBM1 and the self titled record. I always hated how high pitched Tlilian sang. But I feel like vocally he has gotten much better/less annoying this record. Plus the screams don't annoy me as much. This is a solid record. The musicianship is top notch. Really cool lyrical themes as well. -

The negative reviews websites have given this are very off. I had read a few and it had almost made me not want to bother to check this out. This is not old Dimmu but a whole new beast. It's a epic album. I love the different soundscapes they have manged to sprinkle all over this album. This is the sound of progression in my humble opinion. This is still dark and grim but with a little polish. I think it's better than the previous record both musically and vocally.

I think the pact might be the most open and raw I've heard jonny be about his addiction problem. This record is a banger front to back. Easily their most accessible and solid release. The producer tailored the music around his strong vocals and really managed to get jonny to do his vocal runs just right. Plus the lyrics are much better than previous jonny stuff. Simple and too the point.
