  1. I'm just gonna throw it out there and say I straight refuse to listen to this right now lol, otherwise the entire point of me waiting the Final Cut is wasted haha.

Yeah I want the acoustics and stuff, but even I'm refusing to listen to those because I want to experience them all together with the original album as well.

    Just me tho.

Super ecited for this and super happy with it, but I'm not listening. YET.

  2. Well Ulta Ulla had some of my favorite deathcore songs in existence, but overall I disliked the album (yeah, I don't like their albums, but some of the songs are PHENOMENAL), so I hope to find at least another song or two on here to rank among the best, while expecting the rest to not do anything for me lmao

Yeah I totally get it though.  The super slow atmospheric parts with the spoken word-esque harsh vocals are kinda hit and miss sometimes on this album, I totally agree.  Also they have two different vocalists; the harsh vocalist (who plays guitar occasionally) and the clean vocalist/guitarist.  But yeah, I like the harsh vocals as they sound so raw and filthy, yet the spoken word sounding harshes sound very okay...  Their best track (which will never change), To the Key of Evergreen, is the perfect example of them doing that atmospheric sound right with a good tint of metalcore to it, plus he does none-very little of that "spoken word" harshes on that track too.

Oh well then I just don't like their unclean vocalist a whole lot then lmao

I honestly wouldn't even call them metalcore anymore.  Labeling them as such gives you expectations of what to expect and thus why you're probably disappointed; because of the unsatisfied expectations.  They're more experimental nowadays and dabble in post-rock and metalcore obviously, but they aren't really a metalcore band at this point.  They're an experimental post-hardcore band with atmospheric post-rock elements as well as some metalcore. If you aren't into post rock/metal to begin with, then of course it'll be a huge bore as post- genres are that to a lot of people anyways.  They don't just write straight bangers just like most metalcore bands do, they write slow burners that dig into your head with repeated listens.

There are some SUPER fucking solid post rock records that I adore to pieces, and I do love slower more atmospheric music *sometimes*, but yeah I guess labelling this as metalcore did cause undue expectations, but even then I knew from everybody else that this was going to be weirder, more experimental, less metalcore, etc. but even then, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION, the experimentation could've been better.

Like I said, there are some SOLID tracks here, and I surprisingly really like Chemical, like that was cool, but it wasn't a straight 4 minute breakdown fest.

I just think it could've been a lot better, MOST ESPECIALLY in the vocal department.

His cleans, especially on the slower songs were super good and I enjoyed them a lot really, but I will still say the uncleans turn me off.

With Roots Above and Branches Below, Zombie EP, Dead Throne, 8:18 and Space EP (all killer metalcore releases imo)

Okay haha after what I did hear I just wasn't really gonna listen to the rest of their discog, but I guess I'll give some of these a chance.

you’ll probably love their earlier stuff a lot more then

I listened to their first album and thought it was okay haha.

Haven't heard anything between the releases tho. Had it all downloaded before a bug caused me to have to delete ALL of my music that I'm slowly reacquiring.

Can you recommend their best album Metalcore-wsie to me?

  6. So for somebody who A.) Loves Metalcore to fucking DEATH, and B.) has never listened to a whole lot of these guys before...

The Act was pretty boring for the most part. There were a couple really cool tracks.

However, if the screams were better, I'd 100% love the album a lot more.

The uncleans I can definitely say is the biggest thing that turned me off to the record.

Honestlly tho, that's the worst part because I wanted to love this record so much because that fucking album cover is like the coolest thing lol

Wild World is for the most part, on par with Bad Blood.

You'll enjoy it if you liked Bad Blood.

Dope I just redownloaded Doom Days, I own Bad Blood on iTunes, but downloaded it here anyway haha, and I just downloaded Wild World too.

Gonna go on a Bastille binge today haha.

I'm a huge metalcore dude, but there are some softer artists that I really dig. Bad Blood has always been one of those albums I've really enjoyed.

The only song I enjoyed off that was Quarter Past Midnight. Everything else just sounds bland to me.

For the most part, most of the songs were indeed bland, I agree.

I don't think DD is too god awful, just nothing horribly special.

I haven't heard Wild World yet, but Bad Blood has several extremely memorable songs. And despite how fucking overplayed it was, Pompeii is still such a good/catchy tune.

  9. Point #1: This is my brother's favorite band and I wanted to spite him by listening to this album before he did (since it leaked early lmao)

Point #2: I don't even like this genre, and most of this band's music to me is okay (instrumentally it's really good, but I've never been a fan of these kinds of vocals), but I really really really like this album.

He's gonna love it. I know he's gonna love it. And I can tell him that with a certainly.

I highly admire that about you, giving full discographies a try despite not being aware of the band or necessarily liking it right away.

    Thanks I appreciate the compliment.

I make a point to just be open minded.

I used to dislike Slipknot but now they're my favorite band and I reused to open up that wouldn't be the case.

Sometimes even if I don't like a certain artist I'll come back to them a couple years down the road and find I enjoy them too, so I'm always open to options.

Hence why I ask what people recommend on Leak Days so I can just soak my brain in all sorta of different artists and see what I like and what I don't.

If it is the higher sounding vocals, its def Daron.

    @Hellion6

You both don't have to force yourself to listen to the full discographies if you don't want to.  Just Toxicity at least for SOAD and White Pony for Deftones.

Idk if you guys are full album kinda listeners (if so, listen to them in full), if not, then check out the songs Change (in the House of Flies), Digital Bath, Knife Party, Passenger, and Elite.  If you dig those, then you got a huge rabbit hole to fall down, because you're likely to dig the rest (I can help steer you towards albums if you do get to that point, just PM me or hit up the chat, I am sure there are plenty of others familiar with Deftones).

Oh I'm DEFINITELY a full album listener. I hate listening to single songs. I'm not that kinda guy. I can't even do a shuffle playlist. Those kinda irk me lol.

But yeah even for artists I'm not a huge fan of, I always listen to the full discogs to see if there's at least ONE album or even single song I wanna come back to.

I honeslty HIGHLY dislike MCR but The Black Parade is amazing and I never would've known that if I never decided to just listen to their whole discog.

It's a covers album, so it was bound to happen... I think?

@Daniel_Defoe Like @Anton Chigurh said, listen to White Pony when it comes to Deftones. As much as I'm hyping it to the highest degree, it's one of my favorite albums of all time. Top five material.

Dope I have LOTS o facebook friends who love that album but I'll give the whole discog a listen i I like White Pony.

I have a feeling it is Daron Malakian's (guitarist) backing vocals that are what are turning you off.  Him and Serj sound kinda similar but not really.  If you didn't know they have two vocalists, then it would be easy to assume it's all Serj.  The more shrieky, psychopathic vocals are what you're referring too, no?  If so, thats Daron (for example, the guy who screams WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR in BYOB).  Just curious.

Not sure to be honest. It might be both of them?

I didn't know for sure. I just know in Chop Suey when it's the whole, like, staccato (ish) type stuff, I think it's Serj, I'M PROBS WRONG THO, but maybe I'll have to check out some different songs than all of their bigger hits.
Toxicity is an okay song to me, but the rest that I've heard are really like weird for me to try to sit through solely because of vocals.

Maybe I'll give their discog a download and go through just to try again.

Lmao oh I understand that bro  but we can't help what influences us growing up right? But yeah I'm downloading albums now, so here we go XD thanks for the reassurance with Deftones though, coz I don't know if I'll enjoy as much as SOAD, At least SOAD I actually heard a few of their songs as a kid, Deftones, never once.

Same, haven't heard any Deftones but am downloading their discog rn lol
