Did all the other albums come out this year as well? Is it like a TDH Color Spectrum sort of thing?

Because every song I've heard sounds pretty different than the other and I'm intrigued

They aren't other albums really.  Streaming services just pair them up as such, but it's just a collection of the singles up until the full release in a few weeks.  There's 10 songs out now, 2 left, and they come out in a two-week span.  So the full album should be out on November 22nd

Lyrics should be enough on each albums, plus the amount of times they've said it. But fine

    https://newnoisemagazine.com/interview-bad-omens-religious-imagery/

    Found directly in the article:

"The album features a wealth of references to religion: sin, God, prayer. I assume this was purposeful, but how does it tie in to the record?"

"I grew up in a very religious household. My grandparents were Republican and Christian; I grew up listening to [George W.] Bush keynotes and stuff. I’m not religious, but I really appreciate and enjoy [religious] imagery and concepts, and I think there are a lot of valuable stories in the bible. It’s a very unique way to capture a message by acknowledging the existence of a god or devil, even if you don’t believe in it; it’s a very good metaphor. Like in “Glass Houses,” when I say, “I’ve seen the devil more than I’ve seen God,” really I’m trying to say, “I’ve seen more evil than good.” I like to personify the devil and God and use them as a totem."

Nowhere within the article does he say either they are a "christian band" or that he himself is a christian, he is just inspired by the imagery.  Those two do not correlate.  Also, lyrics are never enough to tell.  A lot of people use religious imagery as influences to give themselves something to talk about.  Religion gives the writer a template for interpretation, and they can do what they will with it.  However using that influence does not inherently make someone or something religious.  Just thoroughly read through what you spit out before you make assumptions.  No harm your way, just wanted to fact check.

On the other hand of it all, this album is pretty great!  There's a lot to take in with their struggles for this record, and I'm excited to see more from these guys.  Worth a listen in my book.

Oh yeah for sure I'm not being impatient or anything, just curious where the taste is sourced. Like is it someone who does have the full thing able to leak but is worried about it so doesn't do the full thing.
Or some official previews are uploaded onto something like itunes and those are ripped?

Thanks for explaining yourself as I was getting mixed signals on your intentions.  Usually these come from different music selling sites.  I bet you that the album has already leaked somewhere, but they're holding it back in fear that it will get taken down.

Shit I love this, so glad Jason's back in music. I hope these guys tour the UK at some point, I caught Letlive on the last tour they did in the uK (sadly with Pierce the Veil) and it was amazing. They clearly mellowed out the setlist for the crowd but they still stayed. Hope to see them in a smaller venue one day (no more than 400 people). Last time it was a 2.5k person venue...

May I just ask what's wrong with PTV? Just curious is all, love hearing people's reasoning behind things I like that they don't like, and I'd love to start a conversation.  Hit me up bro

  5. I'll just make a top 20. There was some good shit that came out this year.  I'll also add a Top 5 worst because why not.  A few quick thoughts will be underneath the albums. Sorry for the length.

    Top 20 Albums of 2017

    20. Brand New - Science Fiction

    • I know, shoot me but I didn't like it that much, BUT it is still Brand New, in quite an acceptable style that is a good outing for them.  Feels a lot like the softer parts of Devil and God with some new flair

    19. Makeout - The Good Life

    • Yes, i know it's a John Feldmann love project, and yes, it may be cheesy as all hell, but this album is just so much fun!  I was looking for a fun ATL feeling album after they dissapointed me this year, and this album served in all respects

    18. Palisades - Palisades

    • I was looking for some fun albums this year, finding something like this where their sound became more polished and solidified made me extremely satisfied.  Palisades delivers an accessible and soulful album here, and I hope they keep with this style

    17. Sleep On It - Overexposed

    • Pop punk first album drops were huge this year, and Sleep On It deserve to be showcased among the group of newcomers as they bring in a different flair to the genre while making it recognizable.  Can't wait to see more from them

    16. Oceans Ate Alaska - Hikari

    • With the lineup change to a new lead singer, this brought me back to them.  Their sound is more polished and feels a bit more jointed together unlike their previous album.  Can't wait to see more from these guys

    15. Thousand Below - The Love You Let Too Close

    • Wow, with an opening track like Sinking Me, I knew this album would have to make it here.  There's always something satisfying about a good light metalcore album for when I don't want all the screams, and this band delivers with their screams and cleans

    14. Coldrain - FATELESS

    • I was lukewarm on Coldrain for their first release, but as a post-hardcore album this is one of the best releases of the year, and bands like Sleeping With Sirens with their recent release should look here and take notes

    13. Gideon - Cold

    • The only thing I can say here is if I can listen to an album on repeat and constantly want to crowdkill anything around me, it deserves to be listed as one hell of an album

    12. The Black Dahlia Murder - Nightbringers

    • This album was my introduction to them, and what an introduction it was.  This album is just brutal in all ways, and deserves to be a part of their already stunning catalog

    11. WSTR - Red, Green or Inbetween

    • Anything that was said about Sleep On It could be said here, but in a more prominant case.  WSTR really push the modern form of pop punk in a way that makes it more party flavored and energetic.  If you thought for some reason Neck Deep didn't do it for you this year, then this will do

    10. Trivium - The Sin And The Sentence

    • Beyond Oblivion... enough is said with that track alone

    9. Rise Against - Wolves

    • Rise Against does it again, and I can't believe the raw power and aggression here.  This presidency really brought something out within them even more, and they don't hold back.  Ferocity is what they mean, and it's done quite well)

    8. Paramore - After Laughter

    • One of the most drastic changes I've seen from a band in a while, and it really shakes up any expectations I could've had.  The happier sound with the darker lyrics about not being happy contrast against each other greatly, but it proves to do something that only a band with quite the name and popularity could ever accomplish

    7. Rings of Saturn - Ultu Ulla

    • When you're looking for deathcore, these guys have some wacky shit, but they deliver in all departments when it comes to instrumentation and brutality of the vocals.  Not to mention I never thought that Spanish guitar would work in a deathcore album so well

    6. The Maine - Lovely Little Lonely

    • As long as The Maine could replicate anything from American Candy, i would've been happy, and they did more than that, they improved on it with every release here

    5. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.

    • Damn, this is a good album. Yeah I went there.  I just feel that the different styles really served here from the ferocity of DNA to the chill vibes of LOVE to the story telling of DUCKWORTH to the accessibility of HUMBLE, everything here just pieces together super well

    4. Creeper - Eternity In Your Arms

    • If you slept on Creeper this year, get off your fucking ass and do it.  They bring theatrics back to punk that we haven't heard since 2006, and brings a dark atmosphere with the soaring vocals and powerful statements

    3. Neck Deep - The Peace And The Panic

    • It's Neck Deep, and I'm a sucker for these guys for sure.  The thing I respected most about the album was that it really brought variety to the table.  Emo infused style with In Bloom, Metalcore influences with Don't Wait, and just their classic Pop Punk formula with Motion Sickness, everything here screams prime choice here

    2. DREAMCAR - DREAMCAR

    • This is what all modern supergroups should look to for reason to do something new.  Take a ska band's instrumentalists and a emo punk vocalist and make a new-wave band?  Why the fuck not?  It's one of the most ear-wormy albums of the year, and this band deserves to be on your radar

    1. Wage War - Deadweight

    • I've been enjoying anything and everything from this band for a little while now, and this just gave me more reason to recommend them.  These guitar riffs just get stuck in my head, the cleans are the best they've ever been, and the brutality is there.  I just want more from them now, and now I'm just patiently waiting

Top 5 Worst Albums of 2017

    5. Sleeping With Sirens - Gossip (One of the most bland albums I've heard this year)

    4. Linkin Park - One More Light (Even though he passed tragically, this album still sucks even past his death)

    3. Imagine Dragons - Evolve (MOTHERFUCKING BELIEVER IS THE ONLY DECENT SONG HERE WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?!?!?!?!)

    2. Emmure - Look At Yourself (C'mon, what needs to be said here)

    1. Suicide Silence - Suicide Silence (Tee hee)

Someone let me know what the best track is so I don't have to download the whole thing...

State Champs is impressive and the same goes for DGD but both are very normal style covers.  Best on the album imo

  8. Soft caught my attention right from the start!  Kinda wish they went with a lot more metalcore solid stuff... their industrial style is hit or miss with me.  Death March I think is one of their best industrial metal based songs, but outside of that, not that many click.  But yeah, Soft, 570, The Ladder, all just brutal tracks, and really they're showcasing their older style with even more production.  I love it!  Thanks KL!
