Deftones came and released what might the the best album of the year (and their career). This is amazing.

I didn't listen to the first album much. Caught my ear but it wasn't my cup of tea so much at the time. But THIS. This is a masterpiece. Started playing to check it out, and couldn't stop. Banger after banger.

I'll still give it time, there's some awesome albums that came out this year. But I've gotta say, after the first impression, it might as well be at least a contender for the AOTY.

Didn't expect this from that cover! Loving the first song, checking out the rest. Thanks!

I'm not really a presence here on the forums, I pretty much drop a line or two in the chat, download stuff, thank people for it, and move on. But yeah, you're one of the people that have stood out from the crowd for me, and I've even talked to you a few times because of that. I don't really know people here well, nor do I know the situation, so I can't comment on that. It's just now that I've realized that I haven't seen you around and now I know why. So, what I wanna say is, good luck with whatever you're planning, man. Thanks for your contribution to the site and all the awesome music you've shared with us.

Didn't see this coming. Wait, when's the album coming out?

Whoa, didn't expect this today. Thought they'd be teasing some more.

One of the most anticipated albums

It's missing the last song, Almaida. The one that was released as a single recently.

Not actual 320 kbps, I checked in SPEK, but thank you so much for the early leak! They released most of the singles already, so just combine them with the new songs for now, and you'll be fine!

I'll be purchasing this to support them, they are really awesome, I've chatted with them multiple times, and I really love the direction they've taken with this album. But, impatient as I am, it's great to have the whole thing to listen to right now.
Cheers!

It's really tough to say at this point. Some of the impressions still need time to settle, other need to be revaluated after some time of not listening to them...But I think this covers at least some of the releases that left an impression.
Dance Gavin Dance - AfterburnerVillainy - Beggar EP
Grey Daze - Amends
Loathe - I Let It In And It Took Everything
Protest The Hero - Palimpsest
City Of Souls - Synæsthesia
Katatonia - City Burials
Code Orange - Underneath
Vukovi - Fall Better
The Weeknd - After Hours
Myrkur - Folkesange

Checked the spectograms, it doesn't seem to be quite 320kbps, for those who care. However, it is absolutely amazing for an early leak, and I think it's just DAMN BRILLIANT. This is so, so good! Thanks so much for the leak! Enjoying it more than I thought I would.
I haven't listened to them as much before, but this is a whole new level for them. And it makes me want to go back to the older stuff again and maybe appreciate it even more than I used to. The production, the melodies, the experimentation, it's all very, VERY well done.
Don't miss out on this, even if you're not a fan! If nothing, it's worth giving it a shot.-

I really like these guys, My Throneless Seeking was quite good, but this is an awesome and a lot more consistent album.

Deftones - Ohms (2020)
in Alternative Metal
Posted
I don't know. Could be the initial hype. I like it a lot. I'll let it play for a while before I can say something like that with certainty. That's why I said "maybe". But it certainly is a very mature release from them. Before Ohms, I've found Koi No Yokan to be their most mature record yet. Gore was interesting, but a bit here and there, with some amazing songs and some kinda odd. This feels a lot more cohesive and in the vein of KNY, with some great melodies similar to some of the stuff from Diamond Eyes. Feels like they picked the best from their career and added on top of the amazing thing that was KNY. That's at least how I feel about it.
