  2. I wish I could add anything super substantive but you've pretty much already said everything I could've and more, but I would still like to mention some ideas.

You mentioned 120$ a year, but even that can be cut to like 30-60$ a year.
I've used free (with ads 🤢) Spotify, student discount Spotify, free work benefit Spotify, etc, but these past 2 years I have been using Spotify with an incredibly cheap 2 EUR/month family plan that and I don't know if I could go back to ever NOT using it and it costs me less than 30 euros a year. You don't even have to live in the same household as your """""family""""" and it is extremely easy to setup.

I find 99% of traditionally released music the same midnight right after leakday, but as you mentioned, certain releases don't appear on Spotify and  you still have to set up some sort of local solution. Which I still think is nothing new or special for an average KL user who downloads hundreds or thousands of albums off KL for years.

I know a reasonable amount of people will disagree but honestly these days I do 99% of my listening on Spotify, I even stopped bothering with downloading most releases during leakday because I'm well aware that if I wait for half a day, 99% of those will be up on Spotify and I will be able to enjoy them anywhere whenever, the ease of use between devices is just too good.

Another Issue is if you are a huge fan of FLAC music, Spotify still only offers.

Since KL as a community is moving to Discord another thing to note is that Discord has very cool Spotify integrations such as Listening Parties, seeing what the user is listening to, etc.

Spotify also has no problems using Last.fm natively with no added mobile or desktop applications if you're into that.

Even if Spotify pays measly pennies to artists, it is STILL the better alternative to listening locally, and it's very cheap if you want it to be.

I just love the idea of being recommended or finding an artist/album/song and then instantly being able to listen to it in 320kbps on any device in a few seconds.

Try the free trial, use the local files tip and you should not regret it.
