Before I start, a HUGE shout out to my friends in Currents for releasing their first full length -- The Place I Feel Safest -- and having it be album of June on Kingdom Leaks. They didn't make my top ten, but I want the admins to recognize my vote for them. Easily top ten of the year if you're into progressive metal/core. Another shout out to my friends in Lesser Men who released Biding Time this year, their first full length is fantastic as well; for fans of Defeater and Touche Amore. Julien Baker - Turn Out The Lights is probably the most slept on album on this forum, let alone of the year. Fantastic musicianship: singing, songwriting, dynamics, use of effects and amps, performance. She's incredible. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's willing to give it a chance. The albums I enjoyed the most are my top 4. The others are sorta thrown in to fill the list because they're good and I listened to them quite a bit, they're just not as good as my top 4. One of the best metalcore records of all time. No doubt. Came out the same year as one of the best post-hardcore albums of all time: Underoath's They're Only Chasing Safety.
