  1. My favourite is either the new Swans or TDWP, but there are a plethora of amazing records from this past month.

    Just to list a few:

    BATS - Alter Nature

Bent Knee - You Know What They Mean

    Angel Olsen - All Mirrors

    Strawberry Girls - Tasmanian Glow

Iguana Death Cult - Nude Casino

    Blut Aus Nord - Hallucinogen

clipping. - There Existed An Addiction To Blood

    Leprous - Pitfalls

    ...and many more.

The epitome of mediocrity in this bland and bloated genre. Nothing here is good, nor is it necessarily bad. It's just there. Everything here is stuff that just follows the exact same formula as bands like Northlane, you can just tell right from the start with the ultra generic drum beat that the album opens with.

Can't say I'm disappointed because I had no expectations, but it's clear that progressive metalcore isn't going anywhere new or interesting anytime soon.

Same bland, mechanical riffs, same boring sounding drums, same overly clean sound. Nothing about this is engaging save for the vocals, which really are the only thing that stands out here. Even then, it's accompanied by boring instrumentation that follows the same exact formula almost every song, save for maybe one ambient part or two.

Gave you an upvote for going against the grain and voicing your opinion in a perfectly harmless way. I disagree with you but it doesn't matter, you shouldn't be getting so much shit.

To quote your "it's clear that progressive metalcore isn't going anywhere new or interesting anytime soon" point though, have you heard Greyhaven? They have a very interesting take on the genre.

Bro you do realize they record and release new albums/singles WAAAAY quicker than most bands do, and more often. So i think you can forgive them for not making every single new song a masterpiece (although I really dig these recent singles and ArSe).

Not every new release HAS to "top" their previous releases. Be thankful they provide so much new content compared to most other bands.

    Let them have an opinion.

  5. It's kinda just... boring. Nothing happens throughout the song. Even if they don't wanna be a metal band anymore, their instrumentation is extremely minimal even compared to Malina. I still love Einar's voice, but I can't help but think they can do so much better than this.

The last like couple minutes of the song was better but still wasn't really much of note until around the 5:50 mark.

wow how disappointing.  the first album was so raw and emotional.  such an amazing debut.

this feels very artificial and corporate.

It's still a solid album but they went from a standout in the genre to just another decent post-hardcore band that I'll listen to on occasion with this release =/

Just curious, what made them a standout? I've listened to their debut, some good songs but nothing stood out to me.
