Really not a fan of the separation between harsh and cleans, it worked so much better when everything was woven together (i.e. Fireworks, Uncharted and so on). They had an okay riff but didn't do anything with it, it'sounds boring even though the breakdown is trying its hardest to sound brutal (which it kinda is thanks to Seans batshit lows but other than that it has not much of an impact).

Man, their bandcamp page was on standby in my tabs since the beginning of the year, finally gave a listen. I'm really glad I didn't close it, Dallas Beltway was disgustingly good.

I think this album really needed those two last songs, Once a Day ended too quickly imo for the album to set. Floating is a gorgeous outro and compliments the themes of Swimming perfectly.

For some reason Polaris is a big load of meh to me, and I've tried countless times to listen to them.

That Zack Fox feature is bound to be fire. Here's his previous work for the uninitiated. EDIT: I don't know why I didn't expect this, I knew he was super close to Mac but it still caught me off guard. I like this album so much more than Drunk, it's relatively short, super concise and still diverse. Starts off super spacey then transitions beautifully into Innerstellar Love which is so fucking jazzyyy it's not even funny. Then it goes into his more upbeat/goofy signature vibe, seems fitting that the peak of the album in terms of atmosphere is about flying (also that Gambino feature on Black Qualls is such a fucking tease). The last tracks go into a lot more sorrowful mood, from Fair Chance to the end is such a heartbreaking combination of songs.

Statues are playing their final show tonight. Their last album was soooo underrated.
