This is pretty good but I do wish the vocals were louder in the mix

In my mind, MTS is June, but even if it were July...
1. MTS
2. TAS
3. Logic
4. Neck Deep
4. Broadside

I actually like this album a good amount. Favorites are: Talk to a friend, Eye Opener, Bury a Lie, Heavier, Wasting my Youth, and Secrets. Witch Hunt is pretty grating to listen to.

This is such a pleasant listen. Loads of textures instrumentally and electronically compliment the soothing vocals quite well. Great song writing too.
Redshift starts with more promise than is delivered though, due to the repetitive and lackluster vocals. Animal Mother seems way too...basic for them. Seems like they just threw it in there to fill up the track listing a bit.
Other than those 2, the songs are full of quality. One other thing I love is how the lyrics are either conceptual and metaphorical, as well as minimal often times. Despite that, it feels like the songs are delivering full ideas without an overload of information/vocals. Lots to peel through here and I'll be happy to do so over many listens.
Closer is also absolutely nutty and so different from every other song on the track listing. It's more Citizen-like, than the proggy elements that litter the other songs. Way more aggressive and just louder too. Works well though. Really good record.

Crisis into Worldwide Suicide is such a banger of a start to this album, with the latter being just 2 minutes of unadulterated chaos. You may call it chugging, but I call it a perfect display of energy and hype. Then Hellbringer comes along and while a tad basic at face value, I think there's a lot of substance here, and the production on it is so crisp and it somehow extenuates the heaviness.
Timebomb just sounds like Breaking Benjamin/TDG with IHW mid-screams...not a favorite. Crossroads I actually found cool, but Husk did nothing for me.
Force of Life is absolutely a high point, Iron Point is pretty good, and Dystopia grew on me since it's release.
Lastly, closer was a fine song too.
Obvious not a real review here or anything, just giving a general opinion on the tracks. Overall though, I think the singles gave a better impression for the album than what it turned out to be, which is disappointing. Singles made me think it'll be a an easy top 10, but after listening, it just has a dance to grow into a top 10 spot for me. Still a good release though and feeling around a 7 after one listen.

Not core, but it'll have to go to Childish Gambino for me. I was expecting AOTY caliber, we got...not that, though i thought it was decent.

To each their own but I looooove instrumental versions, this is more than enough for me. Enemy of the Night was just an added bonus

Synths sound super prominent without Marcus over them. Not better by any means, just a different experience which I love. AOTY.

I love both of these

Man I’ve listened quite a bit and nothing is sticking minus a couple parts of some songs. It’s just not good overall imo. Quarry is the most interesting song and it’s 1m30s. Sonderland is decent too. All I really have to say about the album unfortunately, and I loved their last 2 records.

Not saying it's a bad song, but I dont think this should be the song that a band comes back with after x number of years to announce a new album. Gotta come in hot with a banger single.

I was pretty hyped for this since I loved the first single, 'The Raging Sea' and thought the others were good too. That song just has this careful, moody cadence to it that I really vibed with. A lot of the other tracks are more standard, so I'm a little disappointed because no song really comes close to it, but I still think it's a very solid release, though a little back loaded. I think 6-10 is the best bunch of quality other than track 1.

I wasnt expecting this album to reignite the magic of my old Logic love, but it got waaaaay closer than I expected, especially after the disappointment of COADM, and really, no Logic album has been consistently great since like TITS/BT1 for me. But damn, a lot of these songs are really fucking good. Yes Logic has mostly ran out of things to talk about, but these songs feel complete like a lot of discography hasnt recently. Production and flows are just close to peak Logic and I feel like most people will be happy with this. Only songs Im not huge on are Celebration and Dadbod, and I wish the closer was an actual song, so that one too I suppose.

I remember when Ben spoke on how seriously he takes his rhyme scheming. That is not evident on any of this album's singles.

Is MTS going to be in July poll? If not, it's a glaring omission that would get lots of votes.
1. MTS
2. RTJ4
3. Covet
4. TGI
5. Currents

It was a demo from the sudden sky recording sessions that the vocalist did and the band wasn't as into it as he was. (I think)
He leaked the demo himself on his Twitter.
I remember that. I was happy to see it on the tracklist here. Maybe they just decided to put it off till an acoustic release.

Structure feels a bit messy, and it’s probably my least favorite single but still solid.
-
Quite solid. Is this the opening track? Sounds like an opening track
-
Very cool. Album will be a gem, but probably just short of something super special

I love the heavy parts but the album doesnt grab me consistently enough for me to really like it overall. I respect the sound though.

The vocal performances have no high points and the instrumentals are not interesting, at least to me. 1 listen and done on this one.

Holy fuuuuuuck. I've really started to love this band after the last 3 singles (including this one). I should re-visit their older stuff now that I'm acclimated.

Do you really think Jonny wouldnt take to Twitter and say this if the songs were written with him?
