Jfc track 1 is something. Vocally the delivery is mellow and emo but the beat juxtaposes it with an intense bass drop in parts. Not sure if it works, but there's lots of moving parts in the song and it makes it interesting at least.
The 2 released singles are already confirmed bangers.
The other dude's vocals on Floor 71 are very good. Need some of that on next LP.
Can't Swim likes to change it up with every release, so this should be the only project of this nature. It is a welcome one imo.

This is where I'm at right now. I've gotten quite bored with the band, so I'm fine with a sound change. I def don't love the newer songs but I'm fairly hyped for the album overall.

Fuck yes. Happy to have James back personally.

Imagine putting all this work into an album and releasing it in the tour-less world of 2020 and having the vocals be too low in the mix. I don't think it's the worst offender of this in the world, though. I think if I read the lyrics this weekend, the vocals will feel more prominent in the mix as I'm more familiar with them; at least, that's usually the case for albums like these.
I only listened once but it's solid. I wish the songs varied a bit more cause I felt myself be a bit bored by the end. Good metalcore though.

I'm a fan of everything, despite the change, except the vocals are a bit too nasally for my tastes at times.

Positions and safety net are the only two I really love after one listen. This album reminds me of Mac's Divine Feminine in tone, just less ambitious in sound.

Big fan of Kingslayer, 1x1 and the closer. The singles minus Ludens are too average for this release to be special for me, though.

Big fan of the singles leading up to this. When the vocals hit in Summer Night Town, pure bliss. And Warp is a banger too. I think this album will continue this band putting out albums that are good but not great for me. For example, for their last album, I love half of it but barely listen to the other half. Hoping they can put it all together at some point, cause their potential is quite high. I'd say this is more consistent than other releases though. Just not huge on You, Mischief, Ghost Ship and Laststep. I love the vocal performances and crisp instrumentals though, especially the former. They have some of the best vocal performances in math rock. They know how to use the melodies of their voices.
Other favorites: Box, Fried Rice, To Not Give, Body.

Very good release. Two Suns, Night Shift, Side Effect, Burner, Wayfinder, Sleeper and The Ride are all bangers.
Sync, Blue Dream, Bleach, Lost Hills, I can do without

The worst offender is *Garden Eyes* where the rhyme scheme throughout the song is just so non-existent that I can’t wait for it to end.
Just no hooks to be found on the album and the instrumentals hardly stand out either. There’s a couple good moments like in Tunnel Vision and the last track, but this is mostly a yikes for me.Alright im fuckin dumb for the most part. Album has grown on me a good amount. The songs just sound like they have more going for them now, and I love lots of vocal melodies. Some low points for me, like Don't Give Up Your Ghost and Seneca, but lots of these are great. Moonlight Lines is actually my new favorite Movements song.
Other favorites include: 12 Weeks, Tunnel Vision, Living Apology and Santiago Peak.
