They are two totally different genres of music. Of course it may not be better to some but they are deathcore. Slipknot is not.

Why do bands try and cover Slipknot? None of them ever sound good.

Slipknot is one of those bands that are hard to cover properly. Their stuff isn't particularly difficult to play, but it's the mood and attitude that they have that's hard to recreate.

Slipknot is good and all, but too many people over-hype them. This was a good cover, and there are many other good Slipknot covers too. I'm also getting the feeling that people are looking for a cover that sounds just like the original, which to me is fucking boring. If I wanted to hear someone cover a song exactly like the original, I would listen to the original. Listen to Bleed From Within's cover of People = Shit if you want something like that. I prefer my covers to be different, and this band has done so.

Nah they aren't over hyped, pretty important band in the genre and scene and their live shows are incredible which is a main reason they are liked so much. I am not a fan of covers in general, I think they are pointless so maybe I am bias when it comes to this topic. I just think they never sound very good and they come of cheesy to me, just my opinion though.

Just because I know he could change his vocals well to suit the song, I bet Chris Motionless/MIW would be able to do a good cover of Wait And Bleed. Now that I've said this I'm going to go grumble in the corner because now I wanna hear that.

True. Slipknot is good but not Untouchable gods. If someone does a "good" cover, I wouldn't mind. I only said MIW because the dude can sound like breaking Benjamin, 5FDP,Thrash, metalcore pushing Death core on one album. Not to mention do a cover of Du Hast. His vocal range is impressive. Not a big MIW fan but his vocal capabilities aren't to be scoffed tho.
