I don't think I'll ever like a single song by them as much as I like Neverbloom, but I do really enjoy the new sound their going for, and I think it's a positive change overall.

Hmm, I don't mind the direction of this and Ether but something about the vocal production still feels off.

It sounds like they're reducing it because they're afraid it would overpower the instrumentation but it all just blends too much with the reverb of the guitar imo. I mean, I guess they're going for the Deafheaven feel but I'd like it crisper. But who knows, maybe a higher quality rip will make the difference.

 

That said, I have no qualms with the new female vocalist - curious to see if she'll have any bigger parts.

I'd wait for a rip not as shitty as this one to properly assess the production of I were you, the radio station where this was ripped from streams in terrible quality

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how the departure of bass player, keybordist and guitarist will affect the band's sound in the end

Didnt say that at all in fact, i made clear i like the direction they're heading from ether onwards. Just curious to see how it'll work out, they're also not really talkative about band members leaving and replacements, never announced one, they just pop out

This might be my most anticipated album of the year, with the contortionist and the MMI one that  just came out

Good. Can see where they've been going since Old Souls.

Neverbloom will always be my favorite (except Blood Moon. I fucking love Blood Moon.) but I think this will at least be a very solid album.
