i think everyone who has taste in music has never been huge on them. They became so popular because of few songs and Mitch himself, but their music has never been anything above average except few songs. Indeed ASP were much better than this song

Deathcore hasn't been cool or innovative in years imo. Also, I don't wanna be that guy (I'm totally going to be) but Mitch would not have let this happen. No one knows for sure what SS would sound like today had Mitch not passed, but I can bet that it wouldn't be this garbage.

Not innovative, I guess. Cool is a subjective term, and I happen to enjoy a lot of new deathcore albums. The latter part of your statement I do agree with.

I think you always set yourself up for disappointment if you want everything to be innovative, not everything can be something you haven't heard before. This is far from great, but it makes me interested to hear the rest, they never have been great though.

My only criticism is the poor production of the song, hopefully they will mix and master it better for the album. Also, Suicide Silence was beginning to have Nu-Metal influences back when they released The Black Crown. Everyone is acting like Eddie has 100% control over the band, or that Mitch had all the control too, that's just idiotic as fuck. Mitch was a decent vocalist, but when Eddie joined the band, his vocals that really stood out, much more than Mitch. Eddie's highs were unbelievable. This songs has quite a Deftones vibe to it, and Eddies vocals do remind me of Chino. Plus the criticism of screams, just know that being able to sing clean and harsh is incredible hard, that is why lots of bands use separate clean and harsh vocalists.

Mitch was actually planning on doing cleans on You Can't Stop Me before he passed away. So to say "Mitch wouldn't have let this happen" is pretty disingenuous since they were going to head in this direction anyway

sounds like a late 90's early 2000's numetal/screamo band which i can dig but unfortunately it sacrafices their deathmetal vibe weve all grown to love, so while the song isnt bad it does sound like a bit of an identity crisis which some bands go through and most of the time develop and build from. eh...itll probably sound better live. 

 

but seriously, why is it that so many recent albums from heavy metal bands with clean vocals are being compared to chino moreno? I get hes godlike but there are so many other alt metal bands out there. if anything this sounds like chino from around the fur...20 years ago!

I wish they would fix it but I doubt, I got use to the sound after a couple listens though

This was honestly quite interesting and I definitely do not hate it... they tried to blend a Korn/Deftones influence into deathcore and while they don't quite *nail* it I definitely think this could be an interesting sound going forward.

Actually pretty good, I don't get why everyone wants deathcore bands to sound in 2017 exactly like every deathcore band sounded in 2010. It's not like these albums disappeared from the planet because the bands decided to try something different for once

Chelsea Grin implemented cleans wih Lilith and it was amazing. Its not because they try something different, its because its garbage

The reaction is funny, people reacting as if these guys were great in the first place. They weren't, had a great frontman, thats it. Besides The Black Crown they have been average at best. They have a damn good frontman now, but he is better in All Shall Perish, and they are and have been better than SS.
