Imma have to plead ignorance on this one. I dunno if it's a joke or not, but it made me think of Ashy Larry, the Dave Chappelle character

*Serious answer* Really good! You're missing a little on the extreme metal side though. I suggest.... these (from this year) <3 I love a lot of your listed releases this year!

Convocation

Warbringer

Cult of Lilith

Skyforest (Positive BLACK METAL?)

Napalm Death

Annihilator

And i guess some piano shit. Really beautiful stuff tho. Rob Graves of Red is on this.

Thanks a bunch, bro. I'm still kind of a normie when it comes to heavy music. Black and death metals are usually too extreme for me, but I'm always trying to expand my taste, so I will definitely check these out!

That's pretty good taste my dude! It would be nice if you added a bit more genres in there though.

I recommend the new Logic, Blu and Exile and R.A.P. Ferreira records for Hip-Hop, Song for Our Daughter by Laura Marling, un Canto por México by Natalia Lafourcade and Rastilho by Kiko Dinucci for some folk, and finally ENERGY by Disclosure and PLANET'S MAD by Baauer for electronic music. This is if you would like to expand your horizons a bit more :)

Also do listen to @NieR:Automata™, he's got excellent taste for everything J-Pop, K-Pop and more.

RTJ's up there. And I did listen to that Logic record. I though most of it was cheesy, though a couple songs like Dadbod stood out to me. I have not listened to any of the others tho. I will add them to the list :D

Also, Utada, Oomori Seiko, Sheena Ringo - Muzai Moratorium & Sandokushi (Jazzy/Rock stuff), you might even like her band Tokyo Jihen.

I am confident anything else important will be pointed out by others.

I didn't bother to read through the other comments so I don't know what other people have suggested BUT

1.) Listen to Trivium's new Record. It's pretty damn good.

2.) August Burns Red had a great release this year too imo

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY

If you have not listened to The Way It Ends by Currents, DO IT NOW. Especially if you enjoyed Bury Tomorrow's and The Ghost Inside's release!

***EDIT***

Also, From Ashes to New's recent album wasn't half bad if you haven't heard that yet.

Trivium surprised me. I didn't think I would like it very much but there were some bangers on it. Not quite sure if it quite qualifies for the list tho

Fair enough. Trivium is a band that you either highly enjoy or just don't fully get, so I understand that!

Also, I edited my initial comment in case you didn't see that lol

2020 record suggestions  below...

Based off your liking of Sawayama and similar "art/dark pop", I suggest

Llynks - Become the Root

Roniit - XIXI

Klô Pelgag - Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs (thanks @InsidAero for this rec)

As far as expanding taste, I'd personally try and move out of the -core realm because through KL, you're going to come across basically everything -core related already...

For records released this year, I'd suggest these for starters...

Mykrur - Folksange (Nordic Folk)

Ulver - Flowers of Evil (Synthwave, Depeche Mode-esque sound)

Raphael Weinroth-Browne - Worlds Within (Classical, Cello)

Oceans of Slumber - Oceans of Slumber (it's an injustice to classify this record by genre, but if I had to, I'd label it as passion doom)

Also, needs some jazz in this bitch, so check these out for starters.

Tigran Hamasyan - The Call Within

GoGo Penguin - GoGo Penguin

Pat Metheny - From This Place

Below you'll find other recommendations of a mix of relatively new-ish and "older" records to help ease into other genres and also overlooked gems.

Lantlôs - Melting Sun (Post-Metal, Shoegaze, dreamy vibes)

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 (old school Hip-Hop classic)

Autechre - Amber (Electronic) (thanks @Edgekrvzher for this rec and the one below)

Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Született (Avant Garde, Electronic, Classical, IDM, Breakcore)

Karnivool - Themata (Prog Rock)

Maudlin of the Well - Part the Second (Avant-Garde Rock, Art Rock, Prog)

Dredg - El Cielo (Alternative Rock)

Thank You Scientist - Map of Non-Existent Places (Jazz Fusion, Prog Rock)

Ne Obliviscaris - Portal of I (Classical, Progressive Death Metal --> don't let this intimidate you, its something special)

Amia Venera Landscape - The Long Procession (Post-Metal, Post-Metalcore, Progressive Metal)

Clément Belio - Patience (Avant-Garde, Jazz, Prog, French, Really upbeat happy stuff)

Cult of Luna - Mariner (Post-Metal)

Holy Fawn - Death Spells (Shoegaze, Dreamgaze, Post-Rock)

Bent Knee - You Know What They Mean (Art Rock, Prog Rock, Baroque Pop)

The Black Queen - Infinite Games (Dark Pop, Synthwave, side project of Greg Puciato of TDEP)

The Dear Hunter - Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional (Progressive Rock, Big Band)

Zeal & Ardor - Stranger Fruit (Soul/Gospel Metal... Avant Garde, Black Metal but only partially...)

Only artist I know on the list is Zeal & Ardor, who I quite enjoy. I will try to try everything on here :D

I'm gonna try not to repeat anything from @Mr. Electric's list, but there is so much quality on there, forgive me if I accidentally do. I'm sure you've listened to / heard of some of these regardless.

@InsidAero Artists from your list I enjoy: Charli, Satyr, the Weeknd, the Garden, Dua Lipa, Clt Drp

I've heard of or heard a lot of those.

I like Envy except it takes too long to build up the the good parts.

As a gecs fan I feel like I should like bladee, but I don't. That voice is just too weird for me. Vocals are also what turns me off to Oranssu Pazuzu.

And then I don't get why Fiona Apple is special at all. I get the instrumentation is unconventional and everything, but the songs just aren't that compelling to me.
