How come you guys just don't edit the last playlist instead of making a new one each time?

How the hell do I find this? The link to Spotify didn't work. I searched KL on there, found a profile with the logo, but no content.

Nevermind, I found it.

Because that would require everyone listen to the playlist and save the songs within a week. This isn’t a Release Radar and we want archives of all our playlist just the same as downloads.

Any chance you could do both?  One that is updated weekly and one that isn't?  (Just update the weekly one first then copy/paste the playlist to a new one and bam)

I get this and other ideas. The big hesitation here from administration is that having a setup like this would remove the need to ever visit KL. People would just go to Spotify to find the new playlist, which would remove our forums from the equation completely. If we were a mainly playlist-based site, perhaps this could change.

We’re still smoothening out the rough edges on this project. We may cave in and make the playlists public, but we’ve gotten feedback that in reality this would remove the need to visit our website.

So, definitely noted, and we’re gonna keep thinking on this.

I don't think a playlist would have much of an impact on the forums since people still need an avenue to discuss.

I really don't think it would impact site traffic at all.  I mostly come here because I want to find out what's coming up and what I have to look forward to.  A playlist doesn't change that, it only helps me find a new artist or maybe something I missed.  I'm not going to sit in the dark and just wait to see what pops up on the playlist every Friday.  If I was going to do that I already would be with Release Radar.  This is just a better version of that.

So personally speaking it really doesn't change anything for me in any way.  It's just a better version of release radar, which doesn't replace or replicate why I visit KL.

Thanks, I respect that a lot. However, you’re already active here. We have a lot of lurkers. Some of the lurkers came out from lurking to say that they would honestly visit the site less.

We might cave in. I guess the playlists are an extension of our site. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

But I totally get that too, so it's a tough one. Interesting to see what happens, but regardless my traffic won't diminish in anyway.
