What do you dudes think of Opeth's most recent albums (or this song even)? I haven't listened to anything from them after the disappointing Heritage and it kind of makes me sad, as I used to be an Opeth "stan" back when I started listening to Metal. I still have a love for them and appreciate them making amazing albums (My Arms, Your Hearse and Deliverance being my favorites) before and including Watershed, but this 70s Progressive Rock sound they're going for just doesn't seem very inspired or even interesting.

But, of course, I haven't heard much from them since Heritage, which will be three albums ago with this new one. Perhaps I'll give this new album a shot.

Edit: Probably should also mention that my disappointment in Heritage wasn't because of the lack of Metal. Not to mention, I did love Damnation.

I loved Opeth when they were releasing Blackwater Park, Damnation, Deliverance, and Ghost Reveries. Seldomly in their new material do they release something that has the same gravitas of those older albums (A Fleeting Glance, River, Eternal Rains...). With Mikael's 70's prog worship, I don't know, the music just isn't as emotionally wrenching as it once was. It felt real. It felt powerful. Now it feels kind of silly.
