a darkly humorous, yet wonderfully honest journey through the human experience. sexy, unusual lyrics accompany gorgeous production.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

wanderlust: return to form of Marika's older sound. sets an interesting false sense of security for the rest of the album.

the one: very nice guitar lead. reflective upon the weird feeling of noticing your worst traits when socializing with others.

all night: being reeeeaaaally upfront about having sex with other women. the "eating, moaning, kissing, fucking" element makes this song.

blow: the production on this track is fucking phenomenal. funky basslines, crazy drums, and some real gnarly guitar lines. i definitely love the sound.

i'm not where you are: this track can be perfectly summed up as "the anthem for the emotionally detached that we never had before", derivative of a fan's description.

send my love: the breakup song. written about her ex Amber Bain of The Japanese House, Marika puts herself in the mind of Amber and uses her as a mouthpiece to reveal how Marika was feeling about herself in the situation. honestly a really sad song lyrically.

hand solo: this is just about masturbation. "My finger touch / I've been feeling stuff / Dark meat, skin pleat, I'm working / A monkey glove / You threw away two pints of blood / It's alright, I'm jerking"... what more is there to say?

conventional ride: interesting concept about a woman getting the feeling that a straight woman might be into having sex with other women, when she's really just fulfilling a fantasy and isn't honest about it. song builds up but doesn't exactly climax? it just kinda.. builds up. the whole time. weird song.

come undone: pretty simple instrumental, but in this case less is more. very flourished and done well.

hold on: a sudden electronic-tinged track. a pleasant surprise nonetheless. not much more about it.

any human friend: i LOVE this closer. it does its job of wrapping everything up and circling back to the start. it pulls you back in, and that gives this body of work a lot of replay value.
