Sometimes I think some of you are pointed with a gun and threatened to listen to things you don´t want to. It´s pretty clear from the beginning that this is a member´s cover, so why don´t you just scroll down if you don´t visit the site to hear members´cover songs? I just can´t get it, honestly.

I'd recommend a simple interface (the new gen 2i2 from Scarlett is perfectly fine) and if you want to stay as cheap as possible then an SM57 to go with it. It's a pretty standard live mic for heavy bands and it can take a beating (so picking up a used one isn't a bad idea). If you want something a bit nicer, try a Sennheiser E935. Used to have one myself and it was pretty great, and I know a few years back tons of vocalists in bands like Issues, BMTH etc used to use it.

 

Of course, if you can afford it, get a condenser microphone – ideally an SM7B. This will give you studio-grade quality, and you can probably find a decent one used as well.

Entirely avoid and USB microphones.

Ultimately, this sucks because you used a laptop microphone. The vocals themselves arent bad, but this is awful to try and listen to as-is.

 

If you want a good mic to get you by that is extremely versatile, get an SM57. It's great for vocals, and it's great for guitar/bass applications. It's what i started out with and it sounds great. The SM58 is the mic literally 99% of vocalists use at live shows, but i don't recommend it for recording purposes. Also, get a mic stand. You don't want to have your hands on the mic when recording at all.

 

I still think that this type of thing has no place on KL though and should stay on soundcloud/youtube.

No worries man, I appreciate you responding I will be getting that mic in the future for sure for now I'll be getting the At2020 for recording. Nothing live yet because I don't have a band but I appreciate your feedback and thank you again for still giving it a listen

So uh, do tell, where's the safe space? And why don't community covers have a place on KL as a post? It is music, is it not? They post music here do they not? Just because you happen to not like what is posted does not mean it does not belong here

 

I haven't listened to this but honestly this mentality of "this doesn't belong on KL" is autism incarnate. 

I fail to see this "safe space" thing too. Blind hatred and actual criticisms are very different things.
