@Corpsegrind3r Yeah, this album was pure perfection.  The riffs were insanely memorable unlike similar bands, the drum and cymbal play was stellar, and the vocals were smooth and beautiful as they were heavy and truly emotional.  Plus vocals were easy to comprehend which is always a plus.  5/5 for me, thanks for the recommendation!  I want this on vinyl, but I am sad to see that purple variant is sold out... RIP

Listened to this last night and was absolutely blown away. Phenomenal release. This band is definitely on my radar now.

It's rare that I find black metal appealing but this shit grabbed me for a one way trip to Mordor.

If you like this, you should check out Saor (specifically the song, Monadh - they're an atmo black / celtic black metal band).  The outro to that specific song makes me feel like I am riding alongside the riders of Rohan towards Minas Tirith.

Other bands worth mentioned that are black metal to some extent but are very digestible right from the get go - Alcest, Agalloch, Illyria, Lantlos, Together to the Stars, Winterfylleth, Falls of Rauros, MOL, Unreqvited, Harakiri for the Sky, Ashbringer, Sylvaine, Ellende, and Panopticon.  Most of these bands are more atmospheric black, blackgaze, post-black etc... I like my black metal mixed in with other genres/styles... I am not super crazy about it straight up on its own either.

I feel you, i've been slowly flirting with black metal for a few years now, wanting to like it but only finding some aspects enjoyable, like Alcest who gravitate more towards post-metal. I'll defo have a look at the rest of the bands you recommended, much thanks.

If you like Alcest, then you should certainly most/all of these!  Adore (Numenorean), Forgotten Paths (Saor), and The Carpathian Summit (Illyria) are my top post-black / atmo-black records of this year. Lemme know what you think :)

This is one of those albums I wish was longer.

I would absolutely not mind if it goes on for 2 hours with the decent variety of sounds on it.
