i've been following the japanese house since her 2nd ep, and just to see that she's finally released this entirely original and cohesive body of work after working so hard to get to the place she's at right now is so inspiring and i love it. i love it and i love her. thank you KL, i can't wait to see what amber has in store for us <3

okay, i know i already commented, but OH MY GOD this album is so, so beautiful. i use that word sparingly when i talk about albums because i find that while a lot of albums i listen to have cohesiveness and lineage, they're just a bit.. clunky? this album isn't clunky in any sense of the word. for Amber Bain's debut album, this is an astonishingly impressive LP. it's very smooth and pretty, almost every song flows into the next seamlessly and with ease, and for a project that Amber has said is intended to sort of bring listeners back to a vaguely familiar yet strangely comforting memory and place in their mind, i'd say she has well over-achieved her goal. sonic aspects aside, the lyrical content is undoubtedly the most personal Amber has been in terms of songwriting. she has gone from an introverted, shaky, nervous, anxious wreck, to almost the complete polar opposite! you can sense the confidence in her voice singing lyrics like "nothing feels good, it's not right" (Follow My Girl) and "we don't fuck anymore, but we talk all the time so it's fine" (We Talk All the Time). overall, this is definitely my AOTY as of right now. please, if you've never heard of The Japanese House, if nothing else, give this project a chance. it definitely deserves at least that.

What a pleasant surprise! Really fun to listen to.

I think I prefer "i saw you in a dream" single version than this one.

From EP1 to now, she has grown so in the most beautiful way.

I wish I could say more but I need to let’s this album really soak in before isn’t attempting an adequate summary besides “fucking wow” which is all I can utter atm
