I'm just glad DGD didn't win. ArSe is their worst Tilian album for sure.

Also would've loved to see INK win but i'm glad they at least came in 3rd place.

I voted for Slaves though cause Time, The Valuator wasn't on here.

Expected results, mostly. However, I did expect Underoath to show up higher than they did. 

 

Its a shame we couldnt see The 1975 in the running. I would have been interested in their pull.

last 3 Architects album were album better but weren't even close to being AOTY here I think, this new album is far from great and INK has a bigger amount of great songs in their also flawed LP than Holy Hell so this whole ordeal is kind of ironic, I also thought everyone would be all over new Silent Planet since it felt like great enough metalcore that most of y'all would still find appealing enough but seems not even close. DGD is becoming predictable at this point and they need to really go down a certain concept or two and pump out something more mature that would still showcase their talents, because they're really losing me.

Oh well, at least Daughters came in fourth and Beartooth and Dispose were far from top 3.

 

Also, PSA:
Maybe next time don't vote garbage like Defy as AOTM because you will realize how mediocre it is months later

I actually think it starts fantastic and ends the same, but the middle really doesn't offer much and their last album was wildly superior.

Rigged and Feel Nothing are great. The rest is hot trash to me. So disappointing too, cause HISD is a modern masterpiece.

Just saw Architects in Manchester last night and they were fantastic.

Architects put out their worst album imo. One of the more uninspired metalcore records I've listened to, at least with respect to their potential. And Sam had easily his worst showing consistently, except Doomsday which is easily the best song and was released way before the album cycle. But alas, it won, which is fine I suppose. 

 

EDIT: I voted for top not expecting it to win, but TRASH BOAT DESERVED MORE VOTES. It was my #2 on the year.

Well deserved imo. So much raw emotion poured into Holy Hell, not a lot of bands can execute it the way they did. I like INK's album, but at the end of the day the songs I didn't like on the album brought it down the ladder for me. But fuck Stabbing in the Dark, and IT is the end brought it up to my #4 aoty, those songs are bangers

Tbh I think Silent Planet or Time, The Valuator deserved to win, these two bands released such well crafted albums in 2018, but oh well, Holy Hell was enjoyable.

Architects really didn’t deserve it. Honestly I have a massive amount of respect for them for continuing after Tom passed but Holy Hell just ain’t all that, it’s great but just not AOTY worthy at least in my opinion.

Daughters won that for me. I can't get into Architects after Hollow Crown. They are nothing special anymore imo.
