Sleepwalking (2009) and Between The Lies EP (2010) are my favorites. Wasn't a fan of the singer on the original ep. The Hollow is obviously very good but the ep and album beforehand are still my jams.

original ep/sleepwalking mmf is the band at their most creative imo, but yeah if they were determined to transition to that popular risecore sound they at least did it with integrity on second ep and the hollow.

This is when I come here remind some

of you that screaming in way, shape, or form automatically = good.

There really isn’t any rock on the radio anymore, so calling it “radio rock” doesn’t make sense.

 And this will happen to every single screaming band you like. I don’t know why it still surprises people. Just move on to a younger band if screaming is all you want to hear. 

I never really listened to these guys before, but the 5 more recent songs I just heard were all pretty good. Their earlier stuff blows IMO.

it's not about the screaming, the bands you're talking about; if you put the new and old instrumentals side by side there's a dramatic lack of any energy or momentum in the songs.  the writing has been dumbed down to cast a wider net, the same fans complaining about this or bmth are also complaining about hands like houses who have virtually zero screaming.  

 

I get your point tho, just move on to younger bands than shit on your old favorites who want to change... but I think people are more upset with a perceived lack of integrity from the artists they grew up with.

In fairness, whenever a band that screams releases a song without screaming, there are a TON of complaints about it on here.  The ONLY song i can think of that was immune to this was A Grave Mistake.  INK gets a pass for some reason.  I was ready to fist fight anyone who complained, and there were none....not here, not even on the vile cesspool of villainy that is Facebook.  

As far as "integrity"....its an interesting way of thinking of it.  Bands obviously want to make money, and appeal to the biggest audience they can.  So can they compromise their integrity by releasing music that is less technical, or "dumbed down"?  I don't know how I feel about that.  I didn't feel that Bullet for my Valentine lacked integrity by making Gravity.  They just tried something different.  And from and instrumental standpoint, that album is a huge departure.  Personally, I'd be happy if just made Venom or Fever over and over for the rest of their career.  But I don't fault them for trying new things, even if its not exactly what I want or expect.  

So I don't know man.....I get the impression that complaints have more to do about the screaming.  I suppose I could be wrong though.

As shitty as this is, I still want lyrics from their challenger album on me for life. This band had a good thing going being heavy and raw and unfortunately they, themselves chose to ruin it just for a few more bucks. If it wasn’t for All That Remains going back to form, I’d be super pissed but it’s whatever. RIP another once great inspiring metalcore band.

I used to be super close with this band. I had seen them so many times I was on a first name bases with all of them. There’s specifically ONE person who every member has consistently told me is the reason for this new radio rock centric style. If he doesn’t get his way no one is happy. And it’s sad because he’s good friends with the rise records label head. It’s just a shitty thing. And it’s the reason Anthony left the band last year. He was tired of being under thumb of this guy. He actually told me when unconditional was being worked on he did his guitar parts from home and sent them in to avoid actually being around this person for the writing process.
