The negative reviews websites have given this are very off. I had read a few and it had almost made me not want to bother to check this out. This is not old Dimmu but a whole new beast. It's a epic album. I love the different soundscapes they have manged to sprinkle all over this album. This is the sound of progression in my humble opinion. This is still dark and grim but with a little polish. I think it's better than the previous record both musically and vocally.

yeahhhhhh people are bitching the black metal aspect is gone and thats okay this is album is huge and dimmu still has that simple way of making a song go from light to very dark in the blink of an eye

I like black metal to be black metal in its purest, most diabolical form. But this album doesn't need to be just black metal. All the different influences brought to it make it more interesting. Reminds me a lot of Cradle of Filth's latest two outputs, and they were a band that had gone to make some "meh" albums in the past as well.

 

All in all, this album is way better than Abrahadabra which only had 2 - 3 memorable tracks.
