I honestly disagree with this. I just listened to both ToM albums back to back and they don't sound raspy at all, and in fact, they're even vocal layered.

Going from Instant Gratification, it's the first time he used minimal effects on his vocals and they don't sound nearly as harsh as this song.

I have always a thing with the very first single released on every damn Dance Gavin Dance album, I never like em on the first listen but grows pretty fast.

Tillian's parts are just fine, despite being poppy. My real problem is why is Jon's early parts so quiet (or just kinda distant)? Hopefully that's just because YouTube fucked up the audio.

I'm absolutely loving this punk-ish drums, got headaches from headbanging too hard for the first 10 times listening to it (in a loop, nonstop)

It's kinda early to say, but it's clear that they're evolving their sound a bit. I like it tho. Evolutions are great, the only thing that MUST NOT be lost is the essence of the band. Anyone can tell that's a DGD song, so we're fine
