Austin Carlile Leaves Of Mice And Men

29 posts in this topic

"Dear Of Mice & Men Fans,

It's with heavy hearts that we announce Austin’s departure from the band for reasons pertaining to his health. As many of you are aware, Austin suffers from a rare connective tissue disorder called Marfan syndrome & has been struggling with the physical demands of touring since the band began.

After his most recent series of surgeries at Stanford University Hospital, following the cancellation of our European headlining tour, his team of doctors informed him of the damage that performing, & more specifically his aggressive vocals, have been causing his body. They warned that if he were to continue on doing so, it would cause permanent & irrevocable damage to his spine & nervous system.

Following the advice from his team of specialists, Austin decided it best that he step away from the band & change his lifestyle to better his health. Though we're heartbroken that he can no longer continue, his health has always been of utmost importance to us & we support him now in this decision & are proud of his perseverance over the years.

We've had an amazing & unforgettable past few years making music & touring the world together & the 4 of us look forward to sharing the next chapter of the band's story with you. All previously announced shows will proceed as planned & we thank you for your continued love & support. We couldn't do this without all of you! See you real soon."

-Aaron, Alan, Phil & Valentino

Extremely disappointing news. One of the first bands to get me into this scene. Definitely a great band to me. Just got really distasteful when he started with the "God this, God that". It's your life, no one else's lol but that's just my point of view. Thanks for the share.

This heavy music is really good, but it takes its toll man, we weren't made to make those sounds and it is bad enough on normal guys much less a sick person, he really pushed hard and kept it together all those years and for that he has earned my respect. I hope fronz doesn't ever have to quit though, the metal scene would officially be dead.

Had to happen someday... although I didn't like their last album, I feel bad that he's departing... to continue would only mean to make his health and the band worse... best o luck for his future endeavours and now I m just curious to find out who their next vocalist will be ...

It shows his lack of respect.

Calm down now, he's right. The last 2 albums were shit because of austins vocals (not his fault), so hopefully Aaron steps up and makes this band amazing again.

Wow, what a shitty comment.

well their last 2 albums were a laughing stock for the metal community. If Aaron steps up and does both vocal duties he can probably Make OM&M Great Again.

Honestly, his vocals were the only thing I still liked about OM&M since Shayley left. Aaron is a painfully boring singer

What kind of metal community was this band ever a part of?

apparently you haven't listened to the 2nd album by Jamie's Elsewhere. One of THE BEST albums of 2010.

Think about it, hmm, is it all starting to make sense now; why was cold world so soft and not their heavy routes they went down when they first started...so Austin would have a chance to potentially perform the album live. It is a shifty comment. The man is a legend in his own right and it's very sad he's had to give up something he absolutely adored doing.

End OM&M. Austin Carlile was the face and voice of that band. Fans like us were into them because of him and even though their last album wasn't what we expect, we sure respect them. Huge respect for Austin for being this brave. Hope we can have him for many years, one of THE voices of this scene

P.S.: Sorry
